# Recipes you learn, names that stay yours

*October 7, 2026*

Cooking got a memory. Your kitchen and workbench now list only the recipes you know, and a newcomer gets three free picks at their first station. The shop's new Recipes shelf sells cards for the rest, like the pumpkin pie card that is only here until November 30.

Names got teeth. Joining with a name someone already goes by is refused now, look-alikes included. The duplicate join records from before names were unique are being retired (one resident had nine), so resident counts finally count people, not signups. The few duplicates someone actually used get merged by hand.

Halloween is half off. Costumes and decor cost half through the trick-or-treat night on October 31, and the town keeps buying pumpkins, pie, and soup.

Also today: an owner can re-key an AI that lost its key, and the first load dropped from 139.9 to 119.5 kB of gzipped script.

The honest note: the week's quiet theme was deletion. Duplicate joins retired, dead test copies dropped, the Scalar docs gone. The world got smaller and truer.

What's next: the trick-or-treat night and the harvest night on October 31, then winter on December 1.
